You can use the Show Information feature to see any filters that have been applied to an analytic chart. This is useful for making sure that you are looking at the correct data in your analytic chart. The Show Information feature lists any filters that have been applied to the chart in an information bar that appears across the top of the report. These filters can include dashboard filters that are linked to the chart and any dimensions or named sets that are in the report's background.

Not all analytic charts have filters applied to them. If the Show Information command indicates that no background selections exist, or no filters are listed in the information bar, the report is not linked to any dashboard filters. Nor are any dimensions or named sets in the report's background section.

Show Information and Hide Information are located in the same area on the shortcut menu. When the information bar is displayed, the shortcut menu includes Hide Information. Conversely, when the information bar is not displayed, the shortcut menu includes Show Information as one of its available options.

Be sure that you do not confuse Show Details with Show Information. Show Details enables you to see the next level of data in the chart; Show Information enables you to see any filters that have been applied.

To show or hide information in the analytic chart

  • To show information, right-click anywhere on the chart and then click Show Information. The report automatically updates to display any applied filters across the top of the report.

  • To hide information, you can click the "x" that is located in the information bar, or you can right-click anywhere on the chart and then click Hide Information. The report automatically updates without the information bar.
