STRENGTHENING THE ROLE OF REGIONAL BANKS, OJK HOLDS A MEETING WITH THE SERANG CITY GOVERNMENT, BJB, AND BANK BANTEN
Serang, June 2, 2025. The Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) Office of Banten Province continues to be committed to supporting the strengthening of the role of regional banks in economic development and actively contributing to local government financial management by holding a meeting between the Serang City Government, PT BPD West Java and Banten, Tbk. (BJB) and PT BPD Bank Banten, Tbk (Bank Banten) at the Banten Provincial OJK Office on Wednesday (28/5).
This meeting was held to facilitate the process of transferring credit from the Civil Servants (ASN) of the Banten Provincial Government, Serang City, and Lebak Regency, as well as Members of the Banten Provincial Parliament from Serang City and Lebak Regency, from BJB to Bank Banten.
The meeting was chaired by Adi Dharma, Head of OJK Banten Province, and attended by the Head of Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (Badan Pengelola Keuangan dan Aset Daerah (BPKAD)) of Banten Province, Head of BPKAD in Serang City, and representatives from BJB and Bank Banten.
Adi Dharma, when opening the meeting, emphasized the importance of synergy between BJB and Bank Banten in driving economic growth in Banten Province in the future, given the intense competition in the banking industry today.
"If we don't join hands, in the future, we will face giant competitors who are much stronger in various aspects. Therefore, let's face the challenges ahead for the sake of Banten and West Java Provinces," explained Adi Dharma.
Head of BPKAD Banten Province, Rina Dewiyanti, opened the meeting by 1 conveying the uniqueness of Banten Province, which has two Regional Development Banks (BPD), namely BJB and Bank Banten. Therefore, these two BPDs will synergize to grow together, providing the best service for the community in Banten Province.
"We hope, as the Banten Provincial Government, BJB can provide flexibility of movement and funding allocation to Bank Banten in carrying out its business activities," said Rina.
Rina specifically conveyed the importance of suppressing sectoral egos and maintaining trust between the Banten Provincial Government, BJB, and Bank Banten.
The meeting continued with a discussion between BJB and Bank Banten regarding the mechanism for transferring credit from ASN in Banten Province, specifically in Serang City and Lebak Regency, as well as Members of the Banten Province, Serang City, and Lebak Regency DPRD from BJB to Bank Banten.
The transfer of credit by ASN and the Banten Provincial DPRD, Serang City, and Lebak Regency is a continuation of the transfer of regional general cash accounts (RKUD) from the Banten, Serang City, and Lebak Regency Provincial Governments to Bank Banten.
From the results of the meeting, BJB is willing to delegate credit facilities for ASN in Banten Province, Serang City, and Lebak Regency as well as Members of the Banten Province, Serang City, and Lebak Regency DPRD to Bank Banten covering a portfolio of current quality loans for the first phase of IDR 1 trillion. Meanwhile, non-current loans will be carried out through the takeover process. Both will be carried out in stages until December 2025. Additionally, Bank Banten will provide deduction assistance for all ASN loans with credit at BJB.
The implementation of this meeting is expected to increase collaboration and two synergies between the Banten Provincial Government, Serang City Government, BJB, and Bank Banten, as well as accelerate the process of transferring ASN and DPRD loans from BJB to Bank Banten.
