SHARIA FINANCES IMPROVEMENT FOR PUBLIC PROSPERITY

Gebyar Ramadan Keuangan Syariah (Gerak Syariah) 2025

 

Tangerang, February 23, 2025. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to improve sharia financial literacy and inclusion in align with the government's measures to develop the national economy and to promote public prosperity.

Chief Executive of Market Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi stated that OJK carried out various activities to introduce sharia finances and its uses to the public.

“This is our homework, both OJK and stakeholders, to educate the public on sharia finances. We shall strengthen sharia finances' branding to further bring its presence in the society," said Friderica as she opened “Gebyar Ramadan Keuangan Syariah (GERAK Syariah) 2025" at AEON Mall BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday.

She views GERAK Syariah as an event that promotes the public's sharia financial literacy and inclusion during the momentum of Ramadan 1446 H.

Friderica also encouraged sharia financial services business actors to continuously innovate and actively delves deeper in the public's needs to drive more consumers to use sharia financial services.

She also added that sharia financial sector in Indonesia holds a large potential, shown by the growing potentials every year.

In December 2024, sharia banking saw 9.9 percent growth in financing, amounting to Rp643.5 trillion with maintained NPF at 2.12 percent. Third Party Funds grew by 10.1 percent, amounting to Rp753.6 trillion.

Sharia market cap grew by 11.1 percent, amounting to Rp6,285.3 trillion. Sharia Asset Under Management (AUM) grew by 18.2 percent (yoy), reaching Rp50.5 trillion while Sukuk (corporation and state) grew by 12.9 percent, amounting to 1,682.9 trillion.

Sharia insurance assets grew by 5.8 percent to Rp46.55 trillion. Meanwhile, sharia Financing Companies' receivables grew by 11.3 percent to Rp33.8 trillion.

The opening of GERAK Syariah 2025 was attended by Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia Member Habib Ali Alwi, Head of Sharia Economy and Finances Regional Committee Banten Province Siti Ma'rifah and Acting Head of Financial Literacy, Inclusion, and Communication of OJK M. Ismail Riyadi. The event featured Co-Founder of NgertiSaham Frisca Devi Choirina and Senior Analyst of Capital Market and Sharia Capital Market Development Directorate of OJK as speakers.

 

Collaboration

M. Ismail Riyadi stated that GERAK Syariah 2025 is a sharia finances campaign in collaboration with Sharia Financial Services Business Actors (PUJKS), Sharia Financial Services Industry Association, Bank Indonesia, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sharia Economy and Financial National Committee (KNEKS), Sharia Economy Community (MES), Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD), Mass Media, influencers, religious patrons, and other sharia finances pioneers. GERAK Syariah was simultaneously held on and by 37 OJK Offices in the regions.

GERAK Syariah will be held until March 31, 2025, with two main events: KOLAK (Lessons and Talks Revolving Sharia Finances) and KURMA (Sharia Financial Competition in the Month of Ramadan). KOLAK will include activities such as Educational Webinars, Ramadan Podcast, Radio Talkshows, School of Sharia, and Ramadan Daily Content.

Ismail mentioned GERAK Syariah 2024 resulted in 1,007 financial literacy and inclusion activities, consisting of 742 literacy events and 265 inclusion events. GERAK Syariah 2024 had 3,057,194 financial education participants and 1,175,019 financial inclusion participants.

Friderica expected GERAK Syariah 2025 to be able to attract more participants, growing the financial inclusion aspect from last year.
