President Joko Widodo encouraged the financial services sector to continue to synergize with the real sector to encourage the national economy which is currently in recovery momentum.
"I appreciate the OJK staff who can coordinate well with each other. The financial services sector and the real sector must support and strengthen each other, because without a good financial services sector, the national economy will not be good and sustainable," said the President in virtual remarks at Financial Services Industry Annual Meeting (PTIJK) 2022, which will be held on a hybrid basis in Jakarta.
Apart from that, the momentum for economic recovery is also strengthened by continuing to encourage financing in the MSME sector, which makes a huge contribution to the community's economy.
"Our target in 2024 (the portion of MSME credit) can reach 30 percent and to achieve there we need a breakthrough strategy and serious, consistent and sustainable actions," said the President.
The President hopes that with support from the financial services sector for financing, there will be no more complaints about access to credit to MSMEs or the informal sector.
"We must continue to make this easier and faster so that it provides great opportunities for the young generation to start businesses and MSMEs to develop. MSMEs can be an important component for recovering the economy," he said.
The President also emphasized the importance of policies to develop new economic sources to create added value for the national economy, including those related to the environment.
On that occasion, the President launched the Indonesian Green Taxonomy which was initiated by the OJK as a form of support for the Government which holds the G20 Presidency this year as well as proof of the OJK's commitment to developing the green economy as a new economic sector.
The Indonesian Green Taxonomy, which was prepared together with eight Ministries, contains a list of classifications of economic activities that support efforts to protect the environment and mitigate and adapt to climate change.
The Indonesian Green Taxonomy has reviewed 2,733 classifications of economic sectors and subsectors, 919 of which have been confirmed by the relevant Ministries and makes Indonesia one of the few countries in the world that has national standards related to the green economic sector, such as China, the European Union and ASEAN.
This Indonesian Green Taxonomy will serve as a guide for the preparation of policies (incentives and disincentives) from various Ministries and Institutions including the OJK.
