  • 04 Jan 2023

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) held a meeting with the Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI) to strengthen the quality of human resources or HR in the financial services sector. OJK Audit Board Chair Sophia Wattimena said that through the existing memorandum of understanding, OJK's supervision or internal audit could be improved. According to him, the LPPI has an important role in providing capacity building for OJK and banking human resources. "OJK encourages digital development in the financial services system, especially in terms of an early warning system if anomalous transactions occur, so collaboration with related parties needs to be carried out to further strengthen the financial services system so that it can be more beneficial for the Indonesian economy," he said in a written statement, Tuesday (30/8).

Meanwhile, the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding between the OJK and the LPPI previously covered the provision of education and training, provision of resource persons and utilization of education and training facilities; HR competence and capacity building; and conducting human resource research and development in the financial services sector.

In addition, it also includes outreach, education and financial inclusion; provision, exchange, and utilization of data or information; as well as development of education and training curricula. Sophia added that OJK expects LPPI's support to be able to develop HR competence in the financial services sector in terms of credit analysis, risk management, information technology (IT), accounting and finance, and auditing.

Meanwhile, Plt. LPPI President Director Edy Setiadi welcomed the discussion related to the development of human resources in the financial services sector in order to encourage the strengthening of the financial reporting ecosystem. "We also ensure that our teaching staff are professionals in their fields because the LPPI also collaborates with related professional associations," said Edy. He also explained that the LPPI has so far carried out 400 training activities with 12,000 participants per year. A number of these activities include employee assessment and recruitment, consulting services on various aspects including corporate plans, reorganization, and those related to sustainable financing.
