OJK REVOKES PT BPRS GEBU PRIMA'S BUSINESS LICENSE
Medan, April 17, 2025. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) revoked the business license of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah Gebu Prima (BPRS Gebu Prima) in accordance with Members of the OJK Board of Commissioners Decree Number KEP-23/D.03/2025 dated April 17, 2025. BPRS Gebu Prima is located at Jalan AR Hakim/Jalan Bakti Number 139, Medan City, North Sumatra Province.
The revocation of BPRS Gebu Prima's business license is a part of OJK's supervisory actions, aimed to maintain and strengthen the banking industry as well as to protect consumers.
On May 6, 2024, OJK declared BPRS Gebu Prima as a Bank Under Restructuring due to its failure to meet required capitalization and health standards.
Subsequently, OJK classified BPRS Gebu Prima as a Bank Under Resolution on March 20, 2025, given that the shareholders, Board of Commissioners, and Directors were provided sufficient time to restore the bank's financial health in accordance with OJK Regulation Number 28 of 2023 dated December 29, 2023, regarding the status determination and follow-up supervision of People's Economic Banks and Sharia People's Economic Banks. However, the shareholders and management were unable to rectify the situation.
The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has initiated liquidation proceedings and requested OJK to revoke the bank's business license following the Decree of the Member of the Board of Commissioners for the Deposit Guarantee Program and Bank Resolution Number 21/ADK3/2025 dated April 11, 2025, concerning the handling method for the Bank Under Resolution of PT BPRS Gebu Prima.
OJK has revoked the business license of BPRS Gebu Prima as a respond, in accordance with Article 19 of the aforementioned regulation. Following the revocation, LPS will fulfill its guarantee function and proceed with the liquidation process according to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24 of 2004 on the Deposit Insurance Corporation and Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector.
OJK advises customers of BPRS Gebu Prima to remain calm, as public funds held in banking institutions, including BPRS, are insured by LPS in accordance with applicable regulations.
