FOSTERING HEALTHY FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT FOR THE YOUTH

OJK Financial Education at SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang

 

Magelang, 6 January 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continuously encourages young people to understand the importance of prudent financial management and responsible products and services utilization to create a provident financial habits and long-term financial resilience.

Chief Executive of Market Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi conveyed the message during financial education and literacy for SMA Taruna Nusantara students at Pancasila Hall of SMA Taruna Nusantara, Magelang, Tuesday.

Friderica emphasized financial literacy as the main foundation to build a smart, independent generation who are capable of responsible financial decision-making.

“Financial literacy is an element of leadership that will shape a financially adept and future-oriented generation," Friderica said.

She pointed out that cautious attitude is a necessity in facing digital technology development, as it poses various financial risks such as scams and illegal financial activities.

Financial management skills are a basic life skill for every individual, Friderica added. Intelligence and promising career alone will not provide the optimum benefits without good financial management skills, thereby making financial literacy essential to be introduced from an early age.

Furthermore, Friderica encouraged SMA Taruna Nusantara students to step up as financial literacy ambassadors, promoting financial awareness in communities.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMA Taruna Nusantara M. Imam Gogor Agnie Aditya expressed his appreciation for OJK in improving financial literacy amongst students. Increasing financial comprehension is essential, and is set to develop students' discipline, integrity, and independence as the future leaders of this nation.

“We believe that financial literacy is not merely calculating your finances, but also a crucial element in shapingresponsible, independent, disciplined, and integrous future leaders," Gogor said.

Gogor also believed that OJK's presence amongst students reflects the nation's commitment in preparing an academically, intellectually, and financially excellent generation.

He advised the students as the next generation to prepare themselves to face the growingly complex financial challenges, as high accessibility without adequate understanding to financial products also poses risks.

The event also included symbolic inauguration of several SMA Taruna Nusantara student as financial literacy ambassadors, in hopes of becoming the agents of change in developing healthy financial behavior, improving financial literacy, and increasing awareness on risks amongst the students' peer, family, communities, and other institutions.

A financial educational talk show was also held to expand the students' insights on safe financial planning, saving, and investment, as well as awareness on various financial fraud and scam schemes. The talk show featured speakers from various financial services institutions, such as Head of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Indonesia Stock Exchange Representative Office Irfan Noor Riza, Area Head of Region 17 Office of PT Bank Negara Indonesia Himawan Herrachmadi, and Head of Institutional Relations Division of PT Pegadaian Widi Hartanta.

Approximately 900 students and teachers in SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang attended the event on site.

Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNPT) Eddy Hartono, Head of OJK Central Java Province Hidayat Prabowo and his officials, Head of OJK Special Region of Yogyakarta Eko Yunianto, and financial services business actors in the Central Java Province attended the event.

OJK will continue to expand financial literacy and inclusion program to all segments in the communities, including to students, to achieve prosperous, empowered, and protected Indonesia.
