OJK PROMOTES DIGITAL STARTUP COMPANIES ACCELERATION PROGRAM
Jakarta, 23 July 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) strives to develop digital startup companies' acceleration program to encourage credible, sustainable, and globally competitive financial sector innovations, as well as to accelerate national digital economy development.
Chief Executive of Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Assets, and Crypto Assets Supervision of OJK Adi Budiarso conveyed this message in the "Accelerating the Next Generation of Innovators" Focus Group Discussion, held in OJK Infinity Innovation Center, Jakarta, Thursday.
Adi said that OJK's efforts to promote startup development are not solely focused on business growth but also on creating added value for society and the national economy. He emphasized that innovation should deliver tangible benefits and be supported by strong collaboration among stakeholders.
“OJK aims to set Indonesia as a hub of excellence for digital finance and digital economy. To achieve this, we must establish strong collaboration among regulators, industry players, the government, academics, investors, and innovators to create value for the national economy," Adi said.
Indonesia has a strong potential to become a global digital economy key player, including a large domestic market, creative digital talents, and ever-developing innovation ecosystem, he added. According to him, digital economy competitiveness is not determined by mere technological advancements, but also by credibility and trustworthiness.
“In digital economy, trust is the ultimate currency. Thereby, innovations should go beyond being technologically advanced, it should be able to establish trustworthiness in the community," Adi said.
Furthermore, Adi explained OJK's role in promoting innovation in the financial services sector, as mandated by Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law), as amended by Law Number 4 of 2026.
Not only OJK carries out its regulatory, supervisory, and consumer protection functions, it also promotes financial services sector development to contribute more to the national economic growth.
Director General of Digital Ecosystem of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Edwin Hidayat Abdullah stated that digital technology transformation and adaptation is a prerequisite in increasing Indonesia's productivity and competitiveness in the global economy.
“If we want to advance, we have no choice but to transform and adapt to the new technology. In the future, the economy will be driven by data exchange, hence making digital technology an essential foundation for Indonesia's competitiveness," Edwin explained.
OJK Innovation Center
As a part of OJK Infinity Innovation Center development, OJK implements two acceleration programs in 2026 in innovation pipeline, from ideation, acceleration, regulatory sandbox, to implementation.
The first program, OJK Fintech Startup Accelerator, is a cooperation with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. The program focuses on startup companies that engage in tech innovation development in the financial services sector, such as artificial intelligence, fraud detection, embedded finance, real-world assets tokenization, digital cooperative platforms, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) platforms, and other innovative financial technologies.
The second program, OJK Infinity Accelerator, is a cooperation with the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency. The program focuses on intellectual property (IP) based innovations, such as IP tokenization, Web3, Non-Fungible Token (NFT), digital licensing, and IP-based financing to support the national creative economy industry development.
In these two programs, participants will be fostered in business assessments, market validation, product strategy, financial modelling, regulatory clinic, and mentoring. Currently, all participants are entering the intensive mentoring stage in preparation for the Demo Day.
As a part of the acceleration programs, the “Accelerating the Next Generation of Innovators" FGD introduces the participating startups to regulators, investors, associations, academicians, and industry practitioners to share their perspective on creating company growth, sustainability, and impact strategies.
The forum also featured Deputy of Coordinating Social Economy Empowerment and Migrant Workers Protection of the Coordinating Ministry for Social Empowerment and Co-Founder of Tokopedia Leontinus Alpha Edison; Chief Executive Officer of Kitabisa and General Secretary of Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI) Vikra Ijas; Chief Executive Officer of Kopitiam Oey and Head of Blockchain of Indonesian Blockchain Association Wasis Gunarto; as well as BlockDevId and BitGo APAC Representative Irsan Ramzee.
Through these collaborative acceleration programs and forums, OJK expects healthy development of digital financial services sector innovations that implements good governance, complies with the prevailing regulations, and provides real benefits to the society and the national economy. Close collaborations between regulators, industry players, academicians, investors, and the government is expected to become the groundwork of globally competitive startup emergence in Indonesia.
