Press Release: OJK and Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Build Cooperation in Energy Development

Financial Services Authority, Jakarta, February 3, 2016: Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry agreed to cooperate in the Acceleration Program for Development of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation through Improvement of the Roles of Financial Services Institutions. Memorandum of understanding (MoU) of the cooperation was signed by Chairman of OJK Board of Commissioners Muliaman D. Hadad and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said in Jakarta on Wednesday (Feb. 3, 2016).

"OJK encourages financial services industry to increase financing in energy sector that is highly potential and also to support government's priority sectors in an effort to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy and energy conservation," said Muliaman. The cooperation is expected to help increasing national energy supply, and at the same time supporting efforts in energy conservation.

The MoU aims to be the guideline for cooperation and coordination in a bid to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy and energy conservation through improvement of the roles of financial services institutions based on each party's duties and authority. The MoU's objective is to realize cooperation and coordination in an attempt to support government's program to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy and energy conservation by providing electric power infrastructures through improvement of the roles of financial services institutions.

The MoU covers implementation of technical coordination in an effort to improve the roles of financial services institutions in developing new and renewable energy and energy conservation. This coverage includes:

  • To coordinate and to promote policies;
  • To carry out exchange of information and data;
  • To create coordination between financial services institutions and business entities as well as organizations working on new and renewable energy and energy conservation;
  • To implement education and socialization; and
  • To perform other activities and coordination.
