The 2025 edition of the Indonesia Banking Booklet (IBB) constitutes a publication media presenting brief information concerning Indonesian banking throughout 2024 with additional updates until June 2025, particularly in the chapter concerning published provisions.  This booklet is also expected to provide information regarding direction of the 2025 policies of the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK (Financial Services Authority) as conveyed in the 2025 Financial Services Industry Annual Meeting with the theme of “Strengthening a Stable and Inclusive Financial Services Sector to Support National Priority Programs” and development of the banking industry in Indonesia, as well as studies carried out and regulations and policies issued in the banking field by the OJK so that the banking industry will have higher competitiveness and contribution.

Amidst the uncertainty of global and domestic economic conditions, the Indonesian banking sector has remained relatively solid. Development during 2024 up to the second quarter of 2025, Indonesian banking credit performance has continued to show a positive trend, with growth reaching 7.77% (yoy) in June 2025 (May 2025: 8.43%) to Rp8,059.79 trillion. Third Party Funds (TPF) has also experienced growth of 6.96% (yoy) (May 2025: 4.29 percent yoy) to Rp9,329 trillion, with the largest growth occurring in current (giro) accounts (10.35%), followed by savings accounts (6.84%) and term deposits (4.19%) (yoy). Banking liquidity has also remained adequate, as indicated by the Liquid Assets/Non-Core Deposits (LA/NCD) and Liquid Assets/Third Party Funds (LA/TPF) ratios above the 50% and 10% thresholds, with ratios of 118.78% and 27.05%, respectively. Banking profitability has been well maintained, growing 2.58% (May 2025: 2.51%). Furthermore, banking resilience through its capital has remained strong, as indicated by the maintained high CAR ratio of 25.81%, which is expected to act as a strong risk mitigation buffer amidst the dynamics of global uncertainty.

To maintain the financial services sector (FSS)’s resilience so that it can provide greater leverage for economic growth, in 2025 the OJK has set 4 (four) priority policies, namely (1) Optimizing the contribution of the FSS in supporting the achievement of the Government’s priority program targets, (2) Developing the FSS for inclusive and sustainable growth, (3) Strengthening the capacity of the FSS and strengthening supervision, and (4) Enhancing the effectiveness of integrity and consumer protection enforcement in order to step up public and investor trust in the FSS.

The OJK has also played a significant role in providing direction and boosting the development and digitalization of national banking so as to enhance its resilience, competitiveness, and contribution to the national economy. To strengthen regulations, the OJK has issued 23 (twenty-three) banking regulations in 2024, comprising 18 OJK Regulations and five OJK Circular Letters. Furthermore, Letters of the Chief Executive of Banking Supervision and a letter of the Head of the Department of Banking Regulating and Development have been issued, which constitute affirmations of the OJK’s implementing regulations and provisions. Furthermore, by June 2025, an additional 1 OJK Regulation and 5 OJK Circular Letters have been issued for the banking field.

The 2025 edition of the IBB has been designed an attractive layout and format to provide ease for the users.  In order to maintain the integrity of the OJK’s information and publications, there have been adjustments in the form of links to relevant contents that are already available in other OJK’s publications.  The utilization of QR Code technology in some of the contents in this IBB has also been included, so that the users can easily obtain additional information about the contents being read.

We realize that there are yet shortcomings in the presentation of the 2025 IBB, both in contents and formats, but we hope that the information presented can yet provide optimal benefits for the users. The users’ input and views on this IBB are welcome, which will enable further enhancement in the next edition of the IBB.
