OJK AND MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS AGREE TO STRENGTHEN REGIONAL FINANCIAL ACCESS ACCELERATION TEAM (TPAKD)

Palembang, March 28, 2024. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) have agreed to enhance literacy, financial inclusion, and consumer protection through the optimized role of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD).

The agreement was formalized in the Collaboration Agreement (PKS) between OJK and Kemendagri, signed by the Head of Literacy, Financial Inclusion and Communication Department of OJK Aman Santosa and Directorate General of Ministry of Home Affairs Agus Fatoni. The signing took place at OJK Office Palembang on Thursday.

Head of South Sumatera and Bangka Belitung Province OJK Untung Nugroho witnessed the signing of PKS Number: PRJ-03/EP​.01/2024 and Number: 900.1.13.2/7161/Keuda on Improvement of Financial Literacy, Financial Inclusion, and Consumer Protection through Role Optimization of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD).

Aman Santosa emphasized that the improvement in literacy, financial inclusion and consumer protection will further develop the economy of the community's economy, and consequently contributing to the national economy.

“We believe that people who understands and is responsible in using financial products and services positively contributes to the economic growth and stability," said Aman.

According to Aman, as a form of realization of this agreement, it is expected that each TPAKD can have Literacy and Inclusion Center units that are distributed, closest, and directly engage with the community in various regions to support the massive and equitable implementation of literacy and financial inclusion activies in various regions.

Agus Fatoni, Acting Governor of South Sumatera Province emphasized that the Regional Government will continue to optimize the realization of Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) and allocate funds to support national economic recovery by increasing collaboration and synergy of government program through TPAKD.

“With collaborations and synergies between the government and the financial services institutions, particularly those owned by regional government, it becomes a major force to aid help the public and MSMEs. Additionally, TPAKD duties and opportunities become significant, and this becomes our common obligation. TPAKD is necessary and strategic in driving the economy," Agus explained.

The PKS signing follows up the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of OJK and the Minister of Home Affairs Number MoU-2/D.01/2024 and Number: 100.4.7.1/803/SJ regarding Strengthening of Indonesia Financial Services Authority and Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs' Duties and Authorities, signed on February 13, 2024, and updates the PKS between Deputy Chief of Market Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection of OJK and Directorate General of Regional Financial Fostering of Kemendagri Number PRJ-1/EP.1/2019 and Nomor 900/S35/KEUDA on Improvement of Literacy, Financial Inclusion, and Consumer Protection through Role Optimization of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD), which ended late February 2024.

The Collaboration Agreement included Province and City/Regency-level TPAKD formation; implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of TPAKD program; support for central and regional TPAKD activities; as well as education and dissemination of financial literacy, financial inclusion, and consumer protection programs held in the regions.

The PKS Signing between OJK and Kemendagri is expected to streghten coordination and synergy, as well as participation of both parties in implementing the improvement regional financial literacy and inclusion.
