OJK ENCOURAGES THE YOUNG GENERATION TO LEARN DIGITAL FINANCES

OJK Public Lecture at Universitas Palangkaraya

 


Palangkaraya, February 14, 2025. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to improve public digital financial literacy for better understanding on digital asset products and services, including crypto, in financial future planning.

OJK held Digital Financial Literacy public lecture “The Future of Digital Finance: Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets, The Benefits, Risk and Regulation" to celebrat Crypto Literacy Month in February 2025 at the Palangka Auditorium of Universitas Palangkaraya, Palangkaraya, Friday. The lecture was held in hybrid manner, attended by more than 1,000 schools and Universitas Palangkaraya students under the OJK Central Kalimantan Office.

Chief Executive of Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Assets, and Crypto Assets Supervision of OJK Hasan Fawzi emphasized digital finances literacy among students for community empowerment in the digital finances era.

He expected people to understand the risks as well as make the right decisions in utilizing digital financial services and better long-term investment decisions.

“In spite of what is currently going on, we cannot deny that in comparison to other assets in the last few years, the profitability potentials of crypto is higher compared to other assets such as gold, property, stocks, et cetera. But of course, it comes with higher investment risks," Hasan explained.

Furthermore, he encouraged the younger generation to study their own financial needs and profiles, so they may choose the suitable digital financial services in accordance with their own financial goals

The Vice Rector of Universitas Palangkaraya extended his appreciation for the public lecture held in the university, as the students should be well-prepared in digital financial matters to minimize investment risks.

According to Bappebti data in 2024, the crypto assets transaction sharply increases to Rp650.61 trillion, or a 335.91 percent yoy increase from the numbers in 2023. Crypto assets also bear higher risk level from price fluctuations and scams.​

Assistant of Economic Affairs of the Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan Sri Widanarni, Head of OJK East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Parjiman, Head of OJK Central Kalimantan Province Febriyan Aziz attended the public lecture. The lecture also featured three speakers: OJK Supervisory Agency Didid Noordiatmoko, Head of Digital Financial Innovation Group of OJK Ludy Arlianto, and General Secretary of Aspakrindo Malikulkusno Utomo, as well as Fitria Husnatarina as the moderator.

As mandated by Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, OJK monitors and regulates digital financial assets, including crypto, effective as of the duty transition from the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) on January 10, 2025.

OJK hopes the public lecture will expand the young generation's insights on digital finances, the types, benefits, and risks of financial products and services, and how to make smart investing decisions in the growingly massive digital financial era.
