OJK PROMOTES SHARIA FINANCIAL LITERACY AND INCLUSION IMPROVEMENT IN EKSIS 2026
Jakarta, 20 August 2026. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to strengthen sharia financial literacy and inclusion through collaboration with stakeholders, encouraging the public to better understand, trust, and prudently use sharia financial products and services to meet their needs.
The 2026 Sharia Financial Expo and Seminar (EKSiS) “Growing Together, Becoming Fruitful for All", held on 20-23 August 2026 in Kota Kasablanka Mall Jakarta, promoted this measure as a collaborative space to expand public access to sharia financial information, products, and services.
In his opening remarks for EKSiS 2026, Chief Executive of Market Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection of OJK Dicky Kartikoyono emphasized that sharia financial development goes beyond transaction-level. The development also establishes fairness, partnership, trustworthiness, and social benefits.
“Sharia finances is not about how we carry out our transactions. It is also about building fairness, partnerships, trustworthiness, and social benefits," Dicky explained.
Dicky viewed that strengthening sharia financial literacy and inclusion is a shared responsibility among all stakeholders to build a solid, inclusive, and sustainable sharia financial ecosystem.
Dicky explains how Indonesia sharia finances continue to establish its presence and competitiveness globally. Parallel to this development, the national sharia financial industry continues to grow and contribute to the economy.
Furthermore, Dicky underlined not only focusing on the scale of the financial industry growth, but also in how the industry widely provides quality benefits and services.
“The financial industry should flourish, but it should flourish with benefits that reach more people and flourish in quality," he affirmed.
According to him, EKSiS bridges knowledge to understanding, understanding to choices, and choices to confidence that sharia financial products are quality options that provides sustainable social welfare, real economic growth, and biodiversity preservation benefits.
Dicky also highlighted the importance of strengthening the link between sharia financial literacy and inclusion. The public needs not only to understand the characteristics, benefits, and risks of sharia financial products and services, but also to have convenient access to and utilize them appropriately based on their financial needs.
EKSiS has increasingly become relevant as the 2026 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion showed 43.07 percent sharia financial literacy index and 13.24 percent sharia financial inclusion index. The figures showed a large room of improvement to hone comprehension and to promote sharia financial products and services to the public.
Member of Commission XI of House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) Anis Byarwati said, sharia finances should be a part of the solution to various social economy issues, including creating job opportunities, developing businesses, and enhancing MSME capacities.
“Sharia finance must become part of the solution to our economic challenges. It should create jobs, strengthen MSMEs, support people's businesses, encourage young people to become entrepreneurs, and ultimately improve shared prosperity," Anis said.
Anis underlined directing sharia finances' ability to enlarge economic scale, advance MSMEs, and provide room for innovations in addition to its swift growth, while taking governance, principles of prudence, and consumer protection into account.
Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of IDIC Farid Azhar Nasution stated that the growing public demands on sharia financial products shall be accompanied with upgrade on innovations and supply quality from the industry.
“The more people use sharia products, the more the industry are encouraged to innovate. Demands and supply will inextricably grow." Farid said.
Farid expected IDIC's participation in EKSiS will expand the public education reach, particularly among young people and MSME actors, growing confidence in understanding and prudently utilizing sharia financial services.
Meanwhile, Head of the Economy and Finance Bureau of Regional Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Province Muhammad Herizkianto pointed out the vital role of digitalization in disseminating sharia financial information and education reach to the public.
“In this matter, digitalization may serve as a strategic enabler. Using digital technology that allows sharia financial information and education to easily, swiftly, and widely reach all communities anytime and anywhere," Herizkianto said.
Sharia financial development challenges revolve not only in the people's comprehension in sharia financial products and services, but also in ensuring public access and uses in accordance with their needs, Herizkianto added.
EKSiS 2026 was held for four days, featuring 34 sharia Financial Services Business Actor (PUJK) booths and six halal products and sharia ecosystem booths. People may get to know better sharia finances in the various inspirational education and talkshows.
Head of the Financial Literacy and Inclusion Department of OJK M. Ismail Riyadi, Head of OJK Jabodebek, and leaders of ministries/institutions, Regional Government, sharia PUJK management and directors all ateended the opening of EKSiS 2026.
Through EKSiS 2026, OJK continuously strengthening collaborations, innovations, and digitalization to expand sharia finances access and utilization. OJK promotes competitive development sharia financial products and services in accordance with the public's needs, network services expansion, and community and religious education-based literacy improvements to drive sharia financial inclusion and to provide benefits everyone and the national economy.
