PRESS RELEASE

OJK AND REGIONAL STAKEHOLDERS COLLABORATE TO ENHANCE FINANCIAL SERVICES SECTOR'S GOVERNANCE AND INTEGRITY

Makassar, July 9, 2024. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to propel collaborations with all stakeholders, particularly regional stakeholders, to continuously enhance financial services sector's (“SJK") governance and integrity.

To support this effort, OJK held Governance Roadshow 2024 in the Makassar City on Tuesday. The roadshow involved all stakeholders under the OJK Office in the South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Provinces' work area.

The Governance Roadshow in Makassar activities included Governance Insight Forum (In Fo) and Student Integrity Camp (In Camp), which were held on July 8-9, 2024.

During the Governance Insight Forum (In Fo), Chairman of the Audit Board Sophia Wattimena highlighted OJK's commitment to continuously campaign for governance and integrity enforcement, particularly in the Financial Services Sector.

“If we look at the governance condition in Indonesia from various assessments such as Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and CEC's Integrity Assessment Survey (“SPI"), we can see that the governance and integrity level in Indonesia is lower than expected. Therefore, together, we shall collaborate to improve this condition and create an Indonesia that is free from graft, including in the financial services sector," Sophia stated.

Head of Economy and Development Administration Bureau Regional Secretary of South Sulawesi Province Abdul Azis Bennu, in proxy of Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, explained that the Regional Government's challenges are increasing, thereby requiring transparency and accountability. Therefore, this forum serves an important role as a medium to collaborate and nurture harmony as a bulwark foundation for SJK advancement, especially in the regions.

The Governance Roadshow in Makassar was proceeded by Student Integrity Camp (In Camp), with approximately 900 hybrid participations from civitas academica (rectorate representatives, professors, lecturers, and students) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Bosowa, and Universitas Islam Negeri in Sulawesi. In Camp was held on July 9, 2024.

During In Camp, Head of Integrity Enforcement and Special Audit Department of OJK Siswani Wisudati presented various initiatives carried out by OJK in enforcing the integrity of financial services sector, as well as the importance of university students' involvement as the next generation of this nation in preserving and strengthening Indonesia's integrity, including in the financial services sector.

The Rector of Universitas Muhamadyah Makassar, Prof DR H Ambo Asse, M. Ag., also drew an attention to supervision, in accordance with OJK's duties and functions, including to oneself.

“Everyone has a list of good deeds and virtues. What we write in that list is what we are supposed to do, as a part of internal supervision," Ambo Asse said.

In the future, in addition to strengthening the internal, OJK together with the stakeholders continues to commit in promoting governance and integrity for the Financial Services Industry and the public.
