STRENGTHENING GOVERNANCE AND INTEGRITY OF THE FINANCIAL SERVICES SECTOR AT THE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL LEVELS
Tasikmalaya, June 11, 2024. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) invites all national and regional stakeholders, such as Financial Services Industry, Ministries/Institutions/Government Partnering with OJK, Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD), Illegal Financial Activities Eradication Task Force (Satgas Pasti), financial services institutional associations and financial services sector professional associations, as well as products and services providers, to collaborate to strengthen financial services sector governance and integrity in a sustainable manner.
This message was conveyed by Chairman of the Audit Board of OJK Sophia Wattimena during the Governance Insight Forum (In Fo) in Tasikmalaya. The forum highlights the importance of collaboration to implement good governance and strong integrity as the foundation of all activities in the Financial Services Sector.
“OJK invites all stakeholders to join hands and collaborate in strengthening the governance and integrity of financial services sector, creating a healthy financial services sector ecosystem with competitiveness and high integrity in order to support continuous national economic growth," said Sophia.
Deputy Regent of Tasikmalaya Regency Cecep Nurul Yakin and Mayor of Tasikmalaya Tedi Setiadi warmly welcomed OJK's initiation in holding the forum as well as collaboration opportunities with OJK and all related stakeholders in strengthening financial services sector governance and integrity.
In Fo is a part of the Governance Roadshow, which will be proceeded by Student Integrity Camp (In Camp). Civitas academica such as the rectorate, professors, lecturers, and students of Universitas Siliwangi and other universities in the Tasikmalaya City/Regency will attend In Camp online and on-site on June 11, 2024.
During In Camp, Sophia encouraged students to become the agent of change for governance and integrity enforcement and discouraged them to feel the FOMO in that can trigger consumptive and corruptive trends behaviour in society, including illegal online loans and online gambling.
“As agents of change, students are expected to cleanse Indonesia's from fraud/graft cases through maintaining self-integrity and avoiding graft-like actions, starting from the smallest scale. Additionally, students can also strive for educational path, providing guidance and counselling for the public on good governance and integrity enforcement," said Sophia.
Head of OJK Tasikmalaya Melati Usman also presented ways for students to plan and manage their finances since youth, namely by understanding the differences between needs and wants, allocating personal budget wisely, and being selective when choosing loans in accordance with their needs and financial capability.
In the future, OJK will continue to strengthen governance and integrity in its internal organization, the Financial Services Industry, and the Public.
