PRESS RELEASE

OJK INAUGURATES NEW DEPUTY COMMISSIONER IN PREPARATION OF MINERAL AND STRATEGIC COMMODITIES EXCHANGE REGULATION AND SUPERVISION

Jakarta, 19 August 2026. Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi inaugurated and took the oath of office of Henry Rialdi, the new Deputy Commissioner of Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange (BMKS) Regulation and Supervision in Jakarta.

The inauguration is a part of OJK's institutional enhancement and Law of the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law) mandate implementation.

“This country has high expectations for the success of the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange. We have heard many expectations from various parties, particularly from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, that the exchange will address various issues, especially transfer pricing and under-invoicing practices that have caused losses to the country," Friderica said.

Furthermore, Friderica mentioned that Indonesia is one of the largest producers of various minerals and strategic commodities, which has yet to reap the optimum benefits of this status due to several commodities that has not been priced with domestic value.

BMKS is expected to strengthen trading governance and support transparent pricing to optimize the added value of Indonesia's mineral and strategic commodities.

The mandate to regulate and supervise BMKS for OJK was also mentioned in the President's national speech on 14 August 2026.

According to Friderica, the speech demonstrates the nation's expectation toward OJK in ensuring BMKS implementation for optimum results in accordance with the mandate.

“Certainly, we need to prepare from the initial stage, from POJK, regulating, to supervising, so BMKS will provide optimum results in accordance with the given mandate," Friderica stated.

The appointment of the Deputy Commissioner for BMKS Regulation and Supervision marks an initial step for OJK in preparing the regulatory, supervisory, and ecosystem development frameworks for the BMKS.

The functions aim to ensure regulated, transparent, integrous mineral and strategic commodities trading as well as enforcing risk management and governance.

By strengthening institutional, regulatory, and supervisory frameworks, OJK is committed to ensuring that the BMKS develops within a credible, well-governed mineral and strategic commodities trading ecosystem.

BMKS is expected to enforce domestic pricing and optimize mineral and strategic commodity resources in addition to trading transparency and integrity, for common, social and national welfare.
