OJK STRENGTHENS SHARIA FINANCIAL LITERACY AND INCLUSION

Hosts the Peak Event of GERAK Syariah Bangka Belitung Islands 2026

Pangkal Pinang, March 12, 2026. OJK continues to strengthen Islamic financial literacy and inclusion in the community by holding the peak event of the 2026 Gebyar Ramadan Keuangan (GERAK) Syariah in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province which was held at Graha Timah Pangkal Pinang, Thursday.

This event is part of the OJK's national program, which is being implemented simultaneously in various regions in Indonesia to increase public understanding of Islamic financial products and services and encourage their wider utilization.

The Head of OJK for the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Eko Wijaya, stated that GERAK Syariah is a strategic effort to strengthen the sharia economic and financial ecosystem in the region through various educational activities, outreach, and community economic empowerment.

"Ramadan is an opportune time to strengthen sharia economic and spatial values. Through the GERAK Syariah program, the OJK, together with stakeholders, is striving to provide various educational and economic empowerment activities based on sharia principles, so that the public will better understand and optimally utilize sharia financial services," said Eko.

This series of activities aims to instill an understanding of Islamic economic and financial values in the younger generation from an early age, involving various parties, including local governments, the financial services industry, educational institutions, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). Some of the activities implemented include: roadshow Sharia financial literacy for students, Islamic boarding school students, university students, and fishermen groups; organizing the Kampung Ramadan Meriah (KAROMAH) through MSME Expo; and the Da'i Cilik Competition.

In addition to being a means of Islamic financial education, the peak activity of GERAK Syariah was also followed by a socialization activity regarding Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from the Ministry of Law of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and socialization regarding the 2026 Economic Census from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

In his remarks, Eko expressed his appreciation for the support from various parties, including local governments, the financial services industry, educational institutions, and community groups who have played an active role in supporting the implementation of this year's GERAK Syariah series of activities.

"We hope that the synergy and collaboration that has been established between the OJK, the financial services industry, local governments, and the community can continue to be strengthened to support the development of the sharia economic and financial ecosystem in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, thereby providing broader benefits to the community," he said.

Through this series of GERAK Syariah activities, the OJK hopes that synergy between various parties can be further strengthened to support increased Islamic financial literacy and inclusion in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. This cross-sector collaboration is expected to foster a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable Islamic economic ecosystem, while also positively contributing to regional economic growth.
