2026 NATIONAL SAVINGS DAY AND FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH: OJK CENTRAL SULAWESI ENCOURAGES STUDENTS OF SEKOLAH RAKYAT TERINTEGRASI 20 PALU TO BECOME FINANCIALLY LITERATE
Palu, 22 August 2026. The Central Sulawesi Provincial Office of the Financial Services Authority (OJK Central Sulawesi) held a financial education program as part of the 2026 Financial Literacy Month (BLK) Grand Finale, as well as to commemorate Indonesia Savings Day (HIM), at Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) 20 Palu.
The program forms part of OJK's efforts to enhance financial knowledge and awareness from an early age while fostering a culture of saving among students. Through this financial education program, students were provided with an understanding of the importance of managing their finances wisely, distinguishing between needs and wants, and using financial services safely and responsibly.

The 2026 Financial Literacy Month carries the theme “Smart Digital Financial Literacy, Prosperous Living Towards a Golden Indonesia," emphasizing the importance of public awareness and vigilance against various risks and forms of digital financial crime. Head of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Office of OJK, Bonny Hardi Putra, stated that financial education should be introduced from an early age, as good financial management habits are an important part of character development among the younger generation. “Saving is not merely about setting money aside. Saving is a process of building character. Through saving, we learn discipline, responsibility, patience, and the ability to plan for the future," he said.
On this occasion, OJK Central Sulawesi also encouraged the implementation of the One Student One Account (KEJAR) Program as part of its efforts to expand financial access and foster a culture of saving among students. The KEJAR Program was implemented through the opening of Simpanan Pelajar (SimPel) savings accounts for all students of SRT 20 Palu. Through SimPel account ownership, students are expected to develop the habit of saving from an early age while becoming familiar with and utilizing formal financial services safely and responsibly. This program represents a concrete step toward developing a younger generation with healthy financial habits and greater preparedness to plan for their future.
As of May 2026, the number of accounts held by students in Central Sulawesi Province had reached 45,982, with total savings amounting to Rp9.7 billion, involving 15 participating banks operating in the province. Through this initiative, the Central Sulawesi Provincial Office of OJK hopes to further strengthen the culture of saving and raise financial literacy awareness among students. OJK also encourages all stakeholders to work together in developing a younger generation that is financially literate, wise in utilizing financial services, and capable of planning for a better future.
The program reflects OJK Central Sulawesi's commitment to expanding financial education and inclusion while fostering a young generation in Central Sulawesi that is financially literate, independent, and prosperous.
