Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) launched Indonesia Artificial Intelligence Governance for Banking to guide Indonesia banks, ensuring responsible artificial intelligence (AI) (including advanced AI systems) development and implementation.
Indonesia Artificial Intelligence Governance for Banking was prepared to complement various banks’ acceleration of digital transformation that has been established by OJK, such as the Blueprint of Banking Digital Transformation, POJK 11/POJK.03/2022 on Information Technology Implementation by Commercial Banks, SEOJK 29/SEOJK.03/2022 on Cyber Defense and Security for Commercial Banks, SEOJK 24/SEOJK.03/2023 on Assessment of Commercial Bank Digital Maturity Rate, and Guideline to Digital Resilience.
OJK expected the Indonesia Artificial Intelligence Governance for Banking to become the minimal benchmark for the bankin sector in developing and implementing AI system, as AI has dynamic challenges and developments, requiring a complementary system in responding changes through various regulatory frameworks, standards, guidelines, or other relevant policies while prioritizing risk management and the principles of prudence.
