Aris Budiman was born in Surabaya on April 21, 1981, and has a strong educational back​ground and extensive professional experience in economics, banking, and financial services supervision. His formal education began at the Faculty of Economics, Airlangga University, Surabaya, in 1999, which laid a strong academic foundation for the development of his expertise in the financial and banking sectors.

He continuously enhanced his professional capabilities through various specialized education and training programs, including participation in the Banking Supervision School in Jakarta in 2008, a professional development program at the Asian Development Bank Institute in Hong Kong in 2011, and advanced training at the Toronto Centre, Canada, in 2015, which further strengthened his expertise in financial sector supervision and risk management. His commitment to academic and professional development was further demonstrated by completing a Master of Management degree at Diponegoro University, Semarang, in 2021.

Throughout his professional career, Aris Budiman began his working experience in 2002 as a Systems Analyst at Airlangga University, serving in this role until 2005. He then pursued a career in the banking industry as a Credit Analyst at PT Bank Bukopin Tbk from 2005 to 2006, before continuing in a similar position at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk from 2006 to 2008. These experiences developed a strong understanding of banking business processes, financing analysis, credit risk management, and the operational dynamics of financial institutions.

In 2008, he joined Bank Indonesia as a Bank Supervisor, a position he held until 2016. Following the establishment of Indonesia's integrated financial services supervisory authority, he continued his professional service at Otoritas Jasa Keuangan beginning in 2016, serving as a Bank Supervisor across several regional OJK offices before being appointed as Deputy Director of Financial Services Institution Supervision at the OJK Regional Office of South Kalimantan Province.

Throughout his career as a financial supervisor, he has gained extensive experience in risk-based supervision, governance enhancement, investigative audits, fraud examination, and the resolution of troubled financial institutions. These capabilities have enabled him to develop a comprehensive perspective in maintaining financial system stability and strengthening the resilience of the financial services industry.

Currently, Aris Budiman has been serving as the Head of OJK Jember since April 2026, bringing forward a firm yet constructive supervisory approach. His leadership focuses on strengthening the stability of the regional financial services sector, improving governance within financial institutions, enhancing consumer protection, and fostering stronger collaboration among all stakeholders. He firmly believes that a sound financial services industry can only be built through integrity, disciplined governance, strong risk mitigation, and sustainable synergy among regulators, industry players, and the public.
